What is the Bridge Alliance Education Fund?

The Bridge Alliance Education Fund (BAEF) was first designed as a way to support the efforts of the Bridge Alliance.

As we, and the larger coalition, has evolved as an ecosystem, BAEF has evolved in how we serve that ecosystem. We primarily serve the larger community through programs that fit into three primary goals and areas of practice, which are:

  1. To bring more citizens into the ecosystem;
  2. To amplify the best stories of the community; and
  3. To ensure that the larger movement we're building represents all Americans.

What is the Bridge Alliance?

The Bridge Alliance is a coalition of organizations working individually and collectively to promote healthy self-governance in our democratic republic. Bridge Alliance organizations span the ideological spectrum, but are unified to work efficiently, outside arbitrarily defined political lines.

You can see the results of their work by visiting them here.

What Do Alliance Organizations Do?

Within each sector, members specialize in one or more segments of work. Individually, these organizations do noble work. Together, these organizations are a democracy ecosystem (field) that is the backbone of a transformative healthy self-governance movement. This movement is timely and crucial, so we may halt the corrosive effects and reverse the national antagonism that permeates our social and political processes.

What is the Healthy Self-Governance Movement?

The Healthy Self-Governance Movement is a sprawling, decentralized network of organizations and leaders who are working hard to revitalize America. More specifically, they are promoting civility, transparency, effective governance, civic engagement, and a country before party mindset -- i.e. all the elements necessary for healthy self-governance in the democratic republic that is the United States.

None of the many organizations in the field or their talented leaders have the solution or “silver bullet” to fix America. Rather, they each represent a crucial thread for repairing the fabric of society.

It is the intent of the Bridge Alliance to weave these threads together into a tapestry (i.e. cohesive movement) that will reinvigorate our democratic institutions.

Who Can Join The Alliance?

The Bridge Alliance welcomes organizations who are looking to network with others within the ecosystem and are willing to commit to our principles.

If you believe your organization would benefit from being part of the alliance, please contact us.

When an organization joins the Bridge Alliance, they agree to adhere to The Five Principles. These Principles set the tone for the Alliance -- emphasizing basic principles of civic engagement and healthy democratic practice.

Perhaps most importantly, the Five Principles state that Bridge Alliance members are committed to collaboration and supporting each others' missions. The Bridge Alliance was founded on the idea that we can accomplish more together than we can on our own, and we ask each of our member organizations to operate according to that philosophy.

That does not mean that each member organization agrees with all of the solutions or decisions of the other member organizations. In fact, the Bridge Alliance explicitly declines to endorse any individual solution. It does, however, require a basic respect for each other, a willingness to engage, and an interest in collaborating when it makes sense.

Bridge Alliance Members commit to the following Five Principles:

Embracing Our Differences

We recognize that the richness of the American identity is due to our ability to accept our differences and embrace our cultural, ethnic, racial, and political diversity with dignity.

Collaboration

Our country is stronger when we work together constructively to meet the challenges we face.

Citizen Voice

Our country is well represented when informed citizens are active in the political and social processes.

Solutions

Genuine, good faith problem-solving will lead to the best solutions to address our great challenges.

Open-mindedness

We explore and learn from each other, seeking aligned efforts to raise visibility and effectiveness.
