Belen Dumont
Associate Editor,
The Fulcrum
Belén Dumont is the Associate Editor at The Fulcrum. She also serves as the East Coast Editor at the Latino News Network, where she oversees four local digital news outlets, and as Secretary for the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) New England Chapter.
A first-generation American Peruvian journalist, her reporting primarily focuses on Hispanic and Latino communities across New England. As a 2023 USC Center for Health Journalism National Fellow, she explored culturally responsive and accessible efforts relating to childhood obesity prevention and treatment in Connecticut. Her participation in fellowships led by the Solutions Journalism Network, Hearken, and Trusting News — SOS Democracy and Advancing Democracy — has inspired her to apply solutions-based reporting and promote community engagement in her work.
Dumont earned her B.S. degree in Journalism and a Minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Emerson College — where she was news editor of The Berkeley Beacon and president of the NAHJ Student Chapter. She is passionate about civically empowering and uplifting the voices of historically underrepresented communities.
