Sign up for The Fulcrum; nonpartisan coverage of the healthy self-governance movement!
People regularly ask me how they can get a job in the healthy self-governance movement. Usually my advice is to attend different events, network, and check out Bridge Alliance members’ websites. This has always felt unsatisfying. While I understand that, until very recently, you had to scour the newspaper and make phone calls to find a job (trust me, I did all of that!), this is 2020 for goodness sakes! It should be easy for employers and job seekers in our field to find each other (see, e.g., Indeed, Idealist, ZipRecruiter, etc.).
Now it is, as Bridge Alliance member Unite America just announced the launch of DemocracyJobs.org! The inspiration for DemocracyJobs came from a Bridge Alliance Campaigns & Elections Sector meeting at the Unrig Summit last March -- Tyler Fisher of Unite America then took the idea and turned it into a very clean, easy-to-use reality.
And if for some reason you lose the link, don’t worry! There will be a link to it on the Bridge Alliance website (right now you can find it by clicking “Get Involved” in the navigation bar).
If you want to get involved but already have a job, RepresentUs is looking for phone bank volunteers through February 7th to help end gerrymandering in Virginia. Anybody can get involved no matter where they are located, because it’s all done from your computer.
Finally, and on a completely different note, Living Room Conversations is having a 3-part, Zoom conversation on Race & Ethnicity on February 14th, 21st, and 28th. You can sign up for that event here. I participated in the first series and I can say -- without hesitation -- that you’ll have a wonderful learning experience if you come in with an open mind.
As always, thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Bridge Alliance Education Fund
