9/9/2020 - We Need YOU to Work the Polls
Older, experienced citizens are staples of election voting sites. In 2018, 58% of poll workers were age 61 or older. Unfortunately, these critical cogs of our democracy are also the most susceptible to COVID-19. Because of this, many are opting against working the polls this cycle. While that’s the right decision for the health of individuals, it means that we’re facing a critical poll worker shortage right before an election that may result in record breaking turnout.
State and local governments are in dire need of younger poll workers to handle this surge. If you would like to help meet this need and play a crucial role in ensuring that your community’s voice is heard, please visit WorkElections.com. It’s a very intuitive site with instructions on how to sign up, the requirements to be a poll worker, and -- importantly -- the pay scales for different localities (you’re not expected to work for free!). Again, please visit WorkElections.com today and help ensure that the upcoming election runs as smoothly as possible in the face of unprecedented conditions.
