Bridge Alliance members show how to disagree without being disagreeable

This fall Bridge Alliance member organization The Village Square is launching a new project on campuses across the country called Respect + Rebellion. The programs will feature pairs of speakers with divergent viewpoints who still maintain a respectful personal or professional relationship -- a contrast to the predictable "controversial speaker, protest, repeat" formula used by many campuses.

You can check out their early speaker pairs offerings, running the gamut from filmmakers to academics to former members of Congress. The program is also set to feature Bridge Alliance members Debilyn Molineaux (Bridge Alliance) and Pearce Godwin (Listen First Project), as well as John Gable (AllSides) and Joan Blades (Living Room Conversations). New pairs of speakers are being added weekly.

In the meantime, Bridge Alliance member ProCon has been hosting its annual debate series at the Santa Monica Pier. The event takes place every Monday during August and features experts from both sides of current, hot-button issues. It is accompanied by a “Civic Engagement Fair” with activities and music. If you cannot personally attend the event, fear not! ProCon will be live streaming the debates on Facebook and posting them on its YouTube channel.

As always, thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Bridge Alliance
